A teacher appreciation celebration in Ohio took a very different mode as celebrators prepared various preparations using different kinds of fruits, grilled food and other different meals each day which made the affair very surprising. Lots of fruits were the best picture of the day. The preparation of different fruits in salad bowls and others were made possible by parent-teachers organization (PTO). But the main menu of the day was the awarding and recognition of 41 teachers and several other staff members of Elgin South Elementary. They were honored because of their contribution to society and the nation general. Teachers help children become responsible citizens of the country.

Ingrid Britton, a parent and chairperson of the celebration said the Elgin teacher’s commitment to develop young minds become responsible adults in the future is a gargantuan task but they are committed to do so despite some challenges they met along the way. She said teachers do not easily give up their commitment because they are trained to become great molder of children and they must be honored of these amazing efforts they have done everyday in school. The affair also got admiration from other boarding school types schools in the region.

A fourth grade teacher, Nicole Sterling said also thanked the PTO for a well-prepared celebration which all teachers really enjoy. She said the food prepared every day was amazing and they enjoy eating along with the parents making the affair the best Teacher Appreciation week of the year.

Jennifer Buchanan, PTO president also reiterated her thanks to all the parents who took part of the celebration. She invited parents to attend PTO meetings to get connected with the school and its activities. Without the parents, Buchanan said, the affair would not have been possible. She encouraged the parent’s children to continue their college education even under student loan programs so that they can have rewarding careers in the future.

The food extravaganza at Elgin was the highlight of the celebration organized by the PTO. Each day during the weeklong celebration has different theme like Grilling Day, Dips and Fondue Day, Hot Lunch Day, Picnic Day, and Salad Day. This means teachers and parents tasted different menu everyday and that’s what made the celebration a success for both parents and teachers. The organizers of the celebration also thanked the support of several companies that became the sponsors of the weeklong observance of teacher’s week. They gave their thanks to Applebee’s, Kroger, Marion General Hospital, G&R, Denny’s, Cakes-N-Such, Hemmerly’s Flower Shop, L&P Cake Shoppe, Lee’s Famous Recipe, Wyandot Popcorn, Wal-Mart, Tin Duck, Subway, Office Depot, Market Day, White Swan and Meijer.
