Teacher Appreciation Banquet in Dewey Christian Church
A Christian church in this part of the country recently conducted a party to recognize and honor the contributions of educators.
The Dewey Christian Church (DCC) on March 24, 2009 held the banquet at Outlaws Chop House that made the teachers very happy and fulfilled. They knew the recognition of their contribution to society is very important to them. In this way, they can be encouraged more to improve their efforts and to always renew commitment to serve the students in the communities as far as education aspect.
The DCC’s main goal is to inform the teachers how much they are loved and also appreciated. They treat the teachers with a sumptuous meal while the members of the family were responsible for theirs. DCC has seen this activity as a very important tool to make the teachers proud of their profession. Teaching, DCC officials said is a commitment and teachers should be very motivated to become very effective.
Senior citizen educators whose age ranges from 60 years old and above were qualified to free rides with the Washington County Adult Center-City of Dewey Senior Transit. The free rides were available from Mondays thru Saturdays, it was learned.
Meanwhile, the Dewey Spring Fling Livestock Show 2009, a yearly show was also successfully held at the grounds of the Dewey Fair. Many people attended the show and were glad it was very successful endeavor. This show also helped people realize how important it would be to consider raising and market goats, hogs, steers, heifers and lambs. There were also awarding rites conducted during the show which include giving of belt buckets and many others. This is also the same with many schools world wide that also conducted the same activity for teachers.
Jeanie Gilliland, Dewey Ag Team member said parents took active part by donating some amount which made this year’s activity very successful and lively. In October, a fundraiser is also scheduled to start the fundraising for the next year holding of the livestock show.
