In regards to Math subject teachers
It is already known that there are several individuals who got some difficulty towards Math subject but it’s even more harder when the teachers is just one chapter ahead of its learners. This scenario truly happens to poor and minority learners in the city. As a result, several learners in the minority don’t gain much knowledge about their subject and that is according to the report that been made by the Education Trust which is the children’s advocacy. Since, it shows both the connection between the educators knowledge and learners achievement that specifically strong in Math. As well, according to Ross Wiener; the person who oversees the policy issues in the organization that these individual teachers matter a tremendous amount of how much students will learn. According to the report, they have looked teachers with neither an academic educational major nor certification of the subject matter that they teach.
Among the results of Education Department in America, there are about two students in five math classes that don’t have a college major or doesn’t posses any certification in math subject. It can be seen in African-American and Latino children that there are nearly about one in three math classes that been taught by their teacher. This case is quite important because Math subject is considered as a gateway course that will lead to greater success in college or any workplace. In which, those learners who have finish Algebra II during their high school days were more likely get a bachelor’s degree. As a result, those people with bachelor’s degrees earn a substantially more than those with high school diplomas. In which, the teaching concern over this Math subject towards the minority schools in the country got worse especially in the middle grades from 5-8. In which, that will be a crucial time for this math subject according to Ruth Neild which is the research scientist at John Hopkins University. According to Neil, the Math subject is very much important that must be given much focus since it’s the important transition from arithmetic to mathematics. Most of the areas of concerns over this Math subject are located in Philadelphia public schools.
