Teachers in Asia receive recognition
The Teacher Appreciation celebrations which started from many developed countries of the world are now snowballing in the Asian Region, according to reports from the Department of Education. In fact, last week there were many teachers’ organizations all over Asia which celebrated the Teachers Appreciation week. Although the number of days how teachers were honored differs from other schools, educators in this region were happy as their efforts were given importance by many institutions and the government. For many reasons, many sectors in society have started to realize the important role many teachers play in as far as giving proper and professionalized education to the millions of students all over the globe.
In the Philippines, many elementary schools celebrated the Teacher’s Week in three days last month. There were many activities prepared by students and parents, in which the teachers were the participants. The student’s and parent’s organizations rendered various dances and choral presentations, song renditions, cultural; dances and other presentations, while the teachers just listened.
Mr. Melchor Calamba, a tacher for two years said he was happy with the response shown by many parents and teachers during the three-day Teacher’s Week celebrations. They helped in the final presentaion. The students and parents also offered food and snack for the teachers, while others send greeting cards. “I hope this actitivity especially made to honor many teachers is but a fitting recognition for us. We may not be able to wil on competitions and raffles but we are very thankful to the people who supported us,†he said.
Mr. Calamba did not also forget to thank the many people behind the successsful conduct of Teachers Day. He said without the full support of peole they may not be able to share the happiness with the presence of thousands of students and their parents. “It’s my first time that I was honored by the students. It was a great experience. I receive a lot of letters and nice messages,†the teacher said.
