5 Reasons to Appreciate Teachers considering it as Teacher Appreciation Ideas

Friday, November 18th, 2011

When I was browsing in the Internet, I was honestly looking for teacher appreciation ideas that would give me new insights in how to appreciate teachers. To my surprise, I actually didn’t find the ideas in it, but what I read first is the reason why we should appreciate teachers.

Wouldn’t it be suitable to know the reasons why we appreciate teachers give us the motivation to pursue giving appreciation ideas for our teachers? Well, I click the link and here are the reasons written by Susan Dunn. In fact, she specifically mentioned the name of the teacher in itself, why she appreciates these teachers. Allow me to write these personal reasons for us to know also why we should appreciate our very own teachers.

  1. He taught me to question! To use my brain and not allow myself to be spoon-fed. He told us verbs were conjugated one way on Monday, and then introduced the other way on Tuesday, saying, “And now you’re saying, ‘My teacher has lied to me.’ Well, they do!” It kept me on my toes, so to speak, and brought me into the real world where the rules don’t always apply and tricky things can happen. (Appreciating her first- year Latin teacher)
  2. He taught me how much I respect someone who stands for something and enforces it. The students had been picking on a girl I’ll call Clara. [He] sent her from class one day on an errand, and gave us a lecture about how people were going to be treated in her classroom. I can still see her pacing the floor, making her point. Things changed for Clara after that … and for me. (Appreciating her third-year Latin teacher)
  3. She cared enough to notice I was goofing off and called me on it, teaching me to respect myself. She refused to accept the half-a**** paper I had turned in, saying it was nowhere near what I was capable of producing, and told me to do it over. (Appreciating her high school English teacher)
  4. [She] gave me a role model for how a woman can live a balanced life. At the time, few women were working outside the home. She had a Ph.D. and taught full-time at the college, and also had 2 children. She invited us to her home often enough for me to see she was excellent at both. (Appreciating her college professor)
  5. He taught me how to reason. And also that when you have self-confidence you can be warm and funny. Brilliant, he was also very funny. He taught the senior Logic Seminar. No quarters! (Appreciating her college English professor)

How about you? Do you personally appreciate your teachers too? Make room to know why you appreciate your teachers this teacher appreciation week 2011 so that thinking of how you are going to appreciate them would become much easier.

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Teachers in Asia and from across the globe, teach young people to free from ignorance by outfitting them knowledge in methods of reading and writing. In today’s generation, they teachers use games, computers, videos, and other useful tools to educate the student in different subjects. So, teacher appreciation gift ideas must be presented when teachers day is to celebrate.

Teacher Appreciation Poem is the Most Polite Keepsake

Gifts such as crafts are nice for souvenirs especially if this is your last period in academic of that school. But to give the most polite keepsake, the teacher appreciation poem is what you need. Take a look at the following poem elite for the teachers only.

‘Why God Made Teachers’

When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
To help us understand His world
And truly comprehend
The beauty and the wonder
Of everything we see,
And become a better person
With each discovery.

When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
To show us ways in which to grow
So we can all decide
How to live and how to do
What’s right instead of wrong,
To lead us so that we can lead
And learn how to be strong.

Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
Was to help us learn to make our world
A better, wiser place
.

(This teacher poem was created by Kevin William Huff of dltk kids)

Observe how demanding is teachers profession can be:

  • Teachers have done so many things to meet the needs of their profession. They planned their lessons as their guide to teach, they explain the information in relation to the topic, and make all lectures easy to understand so that students with different learning level can learn in the easiest way for them.
  • Teachers assign class homework and projects, which they find helpful to expand the skill of the student to learn. They even help the students when they are not doing well.
  • Kindergarten and elementary teachers teach various subjects, whilst high school teachers concentrates on one subject only. They spend more time to explain clearly their subject.

With all the pressure and the hard work that teachers necessarily accomplish week day, do you think they deserve teacher appreciation poem on teachers appreciation day?

Teachers in Asia resemble as Second Parents

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Particularly in Asia, people within this territory are lovable and caring. Teachers at schools express theses emotions to their students resembling as second parents to them. As a result, during teachers appreciation week they are greatly appreciated by their students because of their dedication stands as mother- father effect for young learners.

Teachers play a significant role for their students, in which teacher effect give big impact to students especially those who have grown with a single parent only. Teachers as educators contribute to student’s development building upon the therapy emotionally and mentally. Famous teachers are even more recognize and honor.

Especially in the situation of students who have no father in their side for a very long time, teachers have father effect to them too. According to research:

Objective:

To evaluate children of specifically imprisoned fathers whether it is more possibly to report or show behavioral indications than their equally deprived peers with no incarcerated father.

Method of the Research:

For the period of an ongoing research of intrauterine cocaine disclosure involving one hundred two children, wherein 50 percent are males and 89 percent are black live from urban areas, with low-income families, asking about the imprisonment of the father of the child were asked of the main caregiver of the child in every visit during school age. The children were directed to the Children’s Depression Inventory in between the ages of six and eleven years old. Afterwards the child’s primary caregiver completed the checklist regarding the Child Behavior. Additionally, the teachers of the children under the said research have completed the Teacher Report Form. And the data attained by the Child Behavior Checklist, Children’s Depression Inventory, and the Teacher Report Form at the oldest available age following the first report concerning about the paternal incarceration were thoroughly examined.

The Result of the Research:

The examination revealed that the children whose fathers were imprisoned had higher total scores of Children’s Depression Inventory matching up with those children without the same status of incarcerated fathers has shown further depressive symptoms.

The finding was strong in research after modification for children’s age (maturity), their gender, prenatal alcohol and cocaine exposure, as well as school-age violence experience. The teachers reported the higher scores in Teacher Report Form for children whose fathers were imprisoned after the modification of their age, their gender, prenatal marijuana and cocaine exposure, in addition to school-age violence publicity.

The Conclusion:

Those children of imprisoned father were reported as more depressive symptoms. The teachers distinguished that further externalizing behavior after calculating for more biopsychosocial threats. Hence, the interventions targeted to restructure the children’s distress with their father’s in jail for consideration.

Appreciating Teachers This Teacher Appreciation Week 2011 through Inspiring Stories

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Teacher Appreciation Week 2011 is an event for teachers that are usually looked forward into. Not that it is the time when they can flaunt their career and brag that they have exerted so much that’s why they deserve all the praise. This is actually the time where they can freely be recognized as the mentors of the champions, the people who worked so hard for a minimum wage, and the most inspiring group of people that impart not just knowledge but even their lives as well.

That’s why, when Teachers Appreciation Week soon approaches into your country, let them be shown with appreciation that they deserve.

Teachers in Asia often celebrate their teachers day on October or November. So if you personally think that poems, speeches, and stories are the best way to be recited on stage as tribute to the teachers, I think the story below is a suitable choice.

Let’s read the story below and see how inspiring teachers are. Enjoy reading!

When God Created Teachers

On the 6th day, God created men and women. On the 7th day, he rested.

Not so much to recuperate, but rather to prepare himself for the work he was going to do on the next day. For it was on that day-the 8th day-that God created the FIRST TEACHER.

This TEACHER, though taken from among men and women, had several significant modifications. In general, God made the TEACHER more durable than other men and women.

The TEACHER was made to arise at a very early hour and to go to bed no earlier than 11:30 p.m. — with no rest in between. The TEACHER had to be able to withstand being locked up in an air-tight classroom for six hours with thirty-five “monsters” on a rainy Monday. And the TEACHER had to be fit to correct 103 term papers over Easter vacation.
Yes, God made the TEACHER tough…but gentle too.

The TEACHER was equipped with soft hands to wipe away the tears of the neglected and lonely student…of those of the sixteen year old girl who was not asked to the prom.
And into the TEACHER God poured a generous amount of patience. Patience when a student asks to repeat the directions the TEACHER has just repeated for someone else. Patience when the kids forget their lunch money for the fourth day in a row. Patience when one-third of the class fails the test. Patience when the text books haven’t arrived yet, and the semester starts tomorrow.

And God gave the TEACHER a heart slightly bigger than the average human heart.
For the TEACHER’s heart had to be big enough to love the kid who screams, “I hate this class-it’s boring!” and to love the kid who runs out of the classroom at the end of the period without so much as a “goodbye”, let alone a “thank you”.
And lastly, God gave the TEACHER an abundant supply of HOPE. For God knew that the TEACHER would always be hoping. Hoping that the kids would someday learn how to spell… hoping not to have lunchroom duty… hoping that Friday would come… hoping for a free day…. hoping for deliverance.

When God finished creating the TEACHER, he stepped back and admired the work of his hands. And God saw that the TEACHER was good. Very Good! And God smiled, for when he looked at the TEACHER, he saw into the future.

He knew that the future is in the hands of the TEACHERS.
And because God loves Teachers so much, on the 9th day
God created “Snow Days.”

English Lecture Coma
James Grengs

I think I know
What it feels like to slip into a coma.
I am sitting,
My teacher is rambling,
And my senses are going.
Slowly,
I slip
Into
Darkness…

Bored To Death
Leila Light

I am in class taking anatomy & physiology lecture
Oh! I am so tired I can not even stare at the teacher
He is so talkative & talks too much, as he has a PHD in literature
I can not even take a note, I do not care
I can not wait to see him walk out through the door.
Monday is always boring
But, not as boring as that old slim teacher, who moves like a string
I can’t take it anymore shall ask permission

Where do all the teachers go?
Peter Dixon

Where do all the teachers go
When its four o’clock?
Do they live in houses
And do they wash their socks?

Do they wear pajamas?
And do they watch TV?
And do they pick their noses
The same as you and me?

Do they live with other people
Have they mums and dads?
And were they ever children
And were they ever bad?

Did they ever, never spell right
Did they ever make mistakes?
Were they punished in the corner
If they pinched the chocolate flakes?

Did they ever lose their hymn books
Did they ever leave their greens?
Did they ever scribble on the desktop
Did they wear old dirty jeans?

I’ll follow one back home today
I’ll find out what they do
Then I’ll put it in a poem
That they can read to you.

Empowering Teachers in Asia Supported by the U.S.

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

The most familiar sight in the classroom all over grade levels are the teachers. They are to set good models in front of their students’ eyes for they influenced great impact to them. Teachers in Asia particularly in South Korea, they are known as ‘nation builders’.

“I think it’s time we treated teachers with the same respect.” said by the US President Barack Obama during the International Summit in South Korea on the Teaching Profession on the spring morning. The summit objective was to identify best practices globally that reinforcing the profession in teaching and raise student attainment.

Added by the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan that when it comes to teaching, the talent matters extremely; therefore, the great teachers are not only born that way. It takes a high-class system for employing, training, retaining, as well as supporting them over their career course so that effective teaching force may develop.

This sight became more unyielding more than ever when Tone Jackson, the Society Vice President had said that the rapid educational change and development is nowhere than Asia continent. Out of the ten performing school systems, 8 of these institutions are in Asia. That is why he suggested that it is vital to have the exchange of ideas discussion between educators in the United States, Asia, and to a different place in order to improve student presentation and widen their competencies they need for the success in a co-dependent world.”

The successful Summit in Korea was an opening step in what will be a continuing conversation among the countries about the finest way to achieve and maintain best practices to advance both teaching and learning.

To work directly with the leaders and teachers all over the world is the key to empower the most precious asset on earth: the youth, proclaimed by Angel Guria the (OECD) Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Secretary General.

School Poem
Author Unknown

Today I hurry off to school,
To work and learn and play
I’m in a brand new grade this year.
What a happy day!!!!!

Poem
by Kevin William Huff

Teachers
Paint their minds
and guide their thoughts
Share their achievements
and advise their faults

Inspire a Love
of knowledge and truth
As you light the path
Which leads our youth

For our future brightens
with each lesson you teach
Each smile you lengthen
Each goal you help reach

For the dawn of each poet
each philosopher and king
Begins with a Teacher
And the wisdom they bring

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking
By Mary Rita Schilke Korzan

When you thought I wasn’t looking, you displayed my first report, and I wanted to do another.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, you fed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, you gave me a sticker, and I knew that little things were special things.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, you put your arm around me, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt–but that it’s all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn’t looking, you smiled, and it made me want to look that pretty too.

Five Simple Ways to celebrate teacher appreciation week 2011

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Teacher Appreciation Week 2011 is an event teachers are generally looking forward to. Every teacher across the globe somehow waits for this “celebration” because it is a moment where they can be paid tribute with all their hard work and effort.

In the same way, we who are the ones making the celebration visible will also be excited in looking forward to this momentous event.

So if you have not thought as to how you are going to appreciate the national teacher appreciation week in your country, you might want to consider the lists below where you can show that you indeed appreciate teachers in their special day.

Feel free to browse. If you want, you may add up the lists.

  1. Send a teacher appreciation card
Like we said, we will be detailing simple ways here. That’s why, simple as it seem it could be, sending your teacher an appreciation card would means so much to her. You may want to make your own created card or just buy it on stores as you write your most touchable words of appreciation. Simple, yet it is extremely effective in expressing words of gratitude.
  2. Participate for a Cause
There has been a petition going on that actually help “Save Great Teachers” nowadays. You may be a person of few words and want to express gratitude by actions, and then you may want to sign for this petition and put students as first priority. Aim that you may keep those teachers who are really working hard to help our children accomplish something.
  3. Give a small gift card
Do you personally appreciate the teacher of your nursery? Giving a small gift card to a store would mean so much for your child’s teacher. You could let your child give the gift for you. By this the teacher can buy supplies for the class without necessarily using her own finances. This would mean a lot to her.
  4. Poem Writing or Thank you Letter
Allow your child to write a poem or thank you letter to his teacher. You can actually help him out if he is younger. The effort you and your child made would make his teacher smile so much because she will know that you also gave the effort to make it. It would mean so much for her.
  5. Making a useful bouquet
Have you noticed that there will always be a sort of vase placed on a teacher’s table? You might want to test your creative skills and make a useful bouquet with pens, pencils, markers, highlighters. That would be too inventive and effortful for someone who deserves such exertion.

Teachers deserve a National Teacher Appreciation Week

Monday, July 11th, 2011

National Teacher Appreciation Week honors teachers for their dedication and service. For years, they have been given such privilege to be honored in a way they deserve because it’s what they be worthy of.

For some who might want to be an antagonist as to why teachers are given such honorable recognition every year, you might want to make reconsideration. If you only know how hard it is to become a teacher. They have given their all for this job. Not that they are given glory above other professions. It’s just that teachers are great inspirations since their nature involves holistic equipping.

Why do teachers deserve an appreciation? Have you asked that question lately?

Teachers are considered to be the mentors of the champions. Whether a person becomes a successful engineer, a prominent doctor, a famous basketball player, an inspired artist, or a booming businessman, all—though technically it’s not really “all”, but yet—all credits are given to teachers because if not for them, these successful men and women will not become what they ought to be now.

Becoming a teacher is incredibly vital especially when her students are looking up to her, whether they are aware of this or not. Whenever a teacher speaks, the student listens. They will always take heed of what the teacher teachers. If the teacher teaches the right things, normally the students will learn the right things and apply it on their lives. Otherwise, they will be learning the wrong things instead and apply the wrong things.

For younger students, particularly the elementary ones and the preschool, for them, everything that the teacher teaches is right. I remember how a teacher mispronounced the word “cake” to a young child. She pronounced it as “kick” instead. It’s such a shame how the students lived for that pronunciation for years until a teacher finally corrects such error.

See how influential teachers are?

That’s why teachers deserve a national teacher appreciation week. Besides, it’s going to be celebrated annually, so people don’t need to be stingy with it. Teacher appreciation week 2011 in particular should be recognized among teachers around the world.

Why won’t you show appreciation to your teacher today?
