The Protest Rally of Teachers in US for Education Change

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

Source from the CNN News, thousands of teachers in U.S. mainly in Washington D.C. and several parents have been shouting for a far-reaching change in the system of education couple of months ago. They were referring to the issue for “No Child Left Behind” rule in order to fix a defective education system in the country. The teachers with the parents and also the students joined together to obtain such policy.

To this, they call for a protest march on Washington to awaken change. A mentor and a national board-certified teacher for the Oakland, California, schools, whose name is Anthony Cody was recently addressed to CNN about the said protest march and its purpose, as well as their goal to gain. He said that last Teacher Appreciation Week, U.S. Secretary of Education has sent a letter of appreciation to teachers in U.S. that honor them along with lots of praises, but how come that the rules and policies in schools are still steady and not even changing being destructive?

Because of this, teachers find the statement of appreciation very alarming. As a result, teachers and parents collaborated to support education. They have started doing this hard work through building their alliance, intensifying their guiding principles plus finding out what they mainly wanted. What they need according to Cody is a positive education program and not just entirely critics.
That march was a real momentum for them. Their endorsement was critical, wherein all participants including the students, parent’s organizations, academics, and teachers who are all motivated with reference to the possibility for their voices to get heard; whatever the result they are hoping for a real change in the policies of U.S. education.

The hard work and the support of teachers in U.S. for the system of education is genuine and stimulating. So, how can parents and students return their gratitude? A THANK YOU teacher appreciation poem and personalize gifts are enough to make teachers supported.

UNESCO World Teachers Day Celebration for Teachers in Crisis

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

Because teachers throw in great contribution into education, teachers appreciation day subsists to give them honors. Last October 5, the UNESCO has invited the public to commemorate the World Teachers Day. They requested the people to bring photos and videos, and send stories to their teachers who are involved from natural disaster of their country as a way of students paying homage.

Last 2010, these teachers were undertaking conflicts, that’s why teachers from Israel, Haiti, Mali, Lao PDR, France, and Lesotho celebrated the World Teachers Day with the UNESCO in Paris, wherein some of the teachers share their experience regarding the crisis they have been through.

The Director-General of UNESCO and the chief executives of United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), International Labour Organisation (ILO), Education International (EI), and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have said the day’s joint statement, “Teachers provide continuity and reassurance…. By giving hope for the future and providing structure and a sense of normalcy, they help to mitigate the effects of conflict, disaster and displacement….. Supporting teachers in post-crisis situations is an investment in peace and development.”

Irina Bokova of UNESCO’s Director-General added a statement that “Teachers are peace builders. They pave the way to living together, by promoting values of respect, tolerance, mutual understanding and solidarity. This mission is more vital than ever in our increasingly connected and multicultural societies.”

The UNESCO celebrates the annual World Teachers Day held every 5th day of October. Aiming to support teachers around the world, the commemoration does not only target to give honor to teachers but as well as to draw attention toward their employment status and the requirements of teachers’ recruitment in all countries.

So if this special day for teachers comes to your country, you may prepare a gift for your favorite teacher. There are wide selections to choose from like a basket of flower, teacher poems in a card to say thank you to them, or anything you think can make your teacher happy and appreciate your present.
