Companies all over the country show their teacher appreciation.

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

The Badland`s Grill House and Saloon with their new campaign “We Love Our Teachers”, a Wal-Mart store in Cincinnati paid a surprise visit to Monfort Heights Elementary, SECA Celebrates Teacher’s Day, Jo-Ann Fabric in Alexandria will held a Teacher Appreciation Day on Saturday. This are only a few examples on how different companies are supporting teachers all over the United States of America.

Teachers are important part of society and their role in community development cannot be denied and that is why many companies have decided to celebrate a teacher appreciation week.

In a press release, Citi 97.3 FM tells about teachers: -the knowledge they impart to us forms part and parcel of our daily lives as we remember and put into practice what we are taught each and every day. Every great person and achiever has passed through the capable hands of a teacher one way or the other and will not dispute the fact that they do deserve our appreciation for largely making us what we become.
This is why Citi 97.3 FM has decided to afford its cherished listeners the opportunity to show their love and appreciation to their favorite teacher who has had a great impact on their lives. October had been declared the Teachers’ Appreciation month.

In other cases, the tribute that teachers receive is much more symbolic: teacher appreciation gifts hand made by their own students that really appreciate what they are learning.

UK Government cuts fund for Teachers TV

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Teachers TV began in 2005 as digital television channel and some time later moved online and built a website where teachers can find free education videos and resources, even uploaded by famous teachers. Teachers TV was founded by the Department for Education but is operated by an independent media consortium, Education Digital.

Teachers can find resources from early years students to secondary levels in different subjects as English, maths, science or music. The site offers too a professional community to share and discuss ideas in a wide range of topics, from whiteboard tips to managing behaviour or teacher’s day organization.

This online education resource is believed to have saved schools around £235m ($376m) in training costs and with 400,000 registered users viewing more than 3,115 different videos each week, the popularity and appreciation of the site cannot be in doubt.

However, this week announcement of Department of Education to end its £10m contract from next April force Education Digital to find alternative funding to keep the site going and save the 55 jobs at the company’s London headquarters.

In a statement on the site, Clare Healy, Chief Executive of Teachers TV said: -All of the 3,600 programmes will continue to be made available online. This will ensure that teachers, headteachers, teaching assistants and governors can continue to access www.teachers.tv for practical support, advice and guidance.
