Selection of the Teacher of the Year Awards 2009 is one of the grandest and most memorable recognitions for our educators for this is the time when their efforts in educating our children will be finally rewarded. This is, in fact, very commendable activity which should be emulated by many schools of the world as well as other groups and organizations that would always love to give due recognition to our teachers, especially on Teacher Appreciation Day 2009.
In Springfield High School at least five teachers are finalists for the 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year, based on a news release reaching this website Monday. They were lucky because they were chosen from among the 42 nominees of the said search. On April 14, they will be formally recognized by the Board of Education during a board meeting and this is really good news for the teachers. This means a success and achievement for them especially those who shall be lucky to receive this most prestigious award.
The lucky educator will be specially honored on April 20 at the University Plaza Convention Center after they will be properly interviewed by the selection committee. They were: Ms. Julia Armstrong, social studies teacher, Pipkin Middle School; Fred Romaine, third-grade teacher, Robberson Elementary School, Steve Fielding, art teacher, Kickapoo High School; Lisa Lilley, Spanish teacher, Central High School and Dave Davis, language arts/communication arts teacher and HTV magazine adviser, Hillcrest High School.
It is also expected that with the upcoming celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week 2009 in the US, many schools will be making a difference in recognizing the teachers in a whole new teacher appreciation week ideas. The celebration is aimed at making our teachers happy, and to continue to strive for excellence. We cannot deny the fact that the quality of education really depends on how our educators perform in schools.
