The principal also underscored two things to appreciate the teacher’s efforts:

  1. Believe in their capacity to educate our children. It was learned from the school principal that parents should believe in the capacity of educators because they are properly trained to become one. This means they are schooled and properly trained to handle all situations in the school.

  2. Support on their needs in school to provide quality education. The teachers can always provide quality education in the school. They only want support from school administrators. The quality of education that parents always wanted cannot be given by the teachers alone but with the able support of the school they are serving. The implementation of complete laboratories is included in the so-called quality of education and not only from theories which maybe learned from educators.

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

As the celebration for teacher’s appreciation day and week nears many schools are now starting to prepare for their kind of celebration to make the teachers happy and become proud of their profession. In some countries of the world, the teaching profession is not well-respected. Many people only regarded teaching as merely a low profile and profession only for the people who cannot afford the expensive cost that education can bring.

In Langston Charter Middle School teachers were treated to a very special celebration. In fact, they were treated to walk on stage under a red carpet. They also posed for pictures while they were being dressed in Tuxedo which made them look very respectable and glamorous.

Playing their own version of the Oscars, the students also treated the teachers like celebrities while conducting the Dicey Teacher Appreciation Day 2009. The celebration is named in behalf of Dicey Langston, a hero of the Revolutionary War. The student body government in the school rewarded the teacher in a very appropriate way without even giving a headache to the parents.

Barbara Cleland, parent volunteer said this unique celebration of teacher appreciation without giving burden to the parents is a very appropriate gesture of helping the parents because of the down economy of the country. She said the students no longer ask for financial help from their parents and the activity was still very successful.

Cleland was even instrumental in organizing the awards show actively participated by the students. The teachers who were beautifully-dressed were given awards and also flowers by the students and they were escorted to their seats during the awarding ceremony.

The teacher appreciation day 2009 in Langston Charter Middle School is very exciting and a clear display of how students and teachers become solid partners of the activity. Many people and teachers hope this would be done also in many schools of the world.

Educational Support of PTA and PTO

Monday, April 13th, 2009

School CampusThe Abilene’s Parent Teacher Association had already lost for about 500 members for over the last years but lately a group of new PTA leaders is currently working in order to reignite the program that raises hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year for these local schools. Throughout Texas, Abilene Independent School District is one of the schools that currently got several membership of Parents Teachers Association despite of its little membership in the past years. The Abilene PTA council has already made up for the parent representatives from various educational learning institutes of Abilene. Just recently the group of Abilene PTA members from the different district had come together in order to elect new officers for new Abilene PTA association. The current new elected president is Douglas Byrn is now ready to do its duty of boosting the parent involvement and be creative in their accountability. Since, Byrn wants to bring the school’s PTA officer for the leadership training this summer and support them to their fundraising and tactics for school top notching award or be a member of Top Schools World Wide.

Aside of that, Bryn will be trying to set more fundraising programs in order to provide an extra funding for their schools activities especially to the upcoming teacher appreciation event which is one of the important event in the country and to the different educational learning institutes. This fundraising program will also provide support for other parent’s teacher’s activities or even school activities with the participation of parents on it. Bryn is looking forward that there will be more PTA members that will be coming for this year not only to increase the population of enrollees for the school but as well to increase the membership participation between parents and teachers for support of the educational growth of the school and to students learning growth. Although, some schools in Texas and even in other states in America have chosen to part of PTO or called as Parent Teacher Organization because it exercise more autonomy such as the Austin Elementary School but still there are several schools, parents and teachers who chooses to be part of PTA instead of PTO.

Even though, PTO and PTA are different organization or association but they just a common goal and that is to provide support to the Student Community Resources for the educational growth of the learners and continual support for teachers profession not only that but as well for the betterment of relationship and communication between the parents and teachers of their respective educational learning institutes.
