The US education department has made an announcement Monday it is willing to give scholarship grants to students who wish to teach in district schools with high demand. The so-called high-needs areas are now the target of the US department because it is recently observed of having only very few teachers. Jay Gatrell, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said this is very important for the US government to be successful in this endeavor so that they can encouraged more professional teachers in the future.
The teacher recruitement day started because of this very valuable project of the government. Gatrell said the program for future teachers of America will start giving the award to lucky students by March of this year. The awardees will receive $6,000 for a two-year schooling period in junior and senior years. The Teacher Appreciation celebrations which started from many developed countries of the world are now snowballing in the Asian Region, according to reports from the Department of Education. In the Philippines, many elementary schools celebrated the Teacher’s Week in three days last month. The students and parents also offered food and snack for the teachers, while others send greeting cards. “I hope this actitivity especially made to honor many teachers is but a fitting recognition for us. We may not be able to wil on competitions and raffles but we are very thankful to the people who supported us,” he said.
Mr. Calamba did not also forget to thank the many people behind the successsful conduct of Teachers Day. He said without the full support of peole they may not be able to share the happiness with the presence of thousands of students and their parents. “It’s my first time that I was honored by the students. It was a great experience. I receive a lot of letters and nice messages,” the teacher said.

An educator receives the so-called teacher appreciation award in honor of his achievements during a fitting celebration of the teacher’s day. Awarded by Fulton Homes for his meritorious achievements was Kristen Pierski, a resident of Avondale and teacher of Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. It was a 10 year old boy who was instrumental in nominating Pierski. The boy who goes by the name of Connor Stephen Willey said he nominated Pierski because she helped him follow his dreams in life and believe in it. As a result fot his recognition Pierski was very thankful to the boy. She said she didn’t expect this to happen. “You could just imagine a boy has nominated me to this award. I was not really expecting this award,” the teacher said during the awarding ceremony.
According to Fulton Homes which gave the award Pierski was making education both fun and exciting as she always inspire students to have fun too and build their confidence. To succeed in life, Pierski said, you must develop self confidence and enjoy your education. You do not need to take studies so serious to the point that you would already forget some important part of your life which is to enjoy and have fun.
The Fulton Homes has been giving teacher appreciation awards to model teachers who have contributed something to make education works in schools. Manila – A bank based in the Philippines announced Wednesday it is helping the Sri Lankan government to the tune of $80 million for the purposes of improving the level of education in the country. Officials of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) based in Manila said the assistance will be focused on the improvement in the secondary and tertiary schools of the said country.
The project will be operational through the Education for Knowledge Society that will allowed a loan of 65 million dollars and another 15 million dollars grant to complete the whole package set by ADB. Based on the terms of understanding, the Government of Sri Lanka would also make a counterpart 25.3 million dollars to completely finish the whole project, it was learned. According to the terms of understanding, a total of 150 public schools in the secondary level will be assisted to upgrade them as far as information technology, communication and other technical matters. The grant is also aimed to help initiate an HIV health education, innovative teaching on both communication and information technology.
ADB South Asia’s senior education specialist, Ayako Inagaki, sad the assistance would enable the Sri Lankan government to improve their level of education with the advent of new technology and communications. Meanwhile, business Analysts in Saudi Arabia during an investment forum said the focus for education and entrepreneurship are among the best agenda should the country needs to remain leading in economy in the Middle East.
