Language Teacher Appreciation

Friday, June 1st, 2007

From the last post, we gather you are all experts in teacher appreciation throughout the worldwide community. To continue with the international theme, why not spoil your language teacher this week? As term winds down, it will provide a fun break, lighten the pre-exam mood and develop an understanding of a culture different from your own.

Research a little about the country’s teacher appreciation quotes or stories, typical cuisine or educational traditions and then use your knowledge to create an especially themed lesson for your teacher.

A great way to create a celebratory atmosphere is music; if permitted, you could play some of the country’s pop songs in class to really get to know the modern culture. To take the theme further, decorate the classroom in traditional colours and make an extra effort to use the language in class…

Think about people going on vacation too ¦perhaps you or your friends are going to a country whose language you study? If so, have a small gift bought back from the trip. Failing that, the Internet allows you to source all kinds of teacher appreciation gifts from around the world ” certainly more interesting than a box of chocolate!
